Willis Stryker, also known as Diamondback, is a Marvel Comics supervillain most notably associated with Luke Cage. He first appeared in Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1 (1972) and was created by Archie Goodwin and George Tuska.
Stryker and Carl Lucas (later Luke Cage) were childhood friends involved in street gangs in Harlem. Stryker framed Lucas for a crime, leading to Lucas's imprisonment and eventual transformation into Luke Cage through a scientific experiment. Fueled by resentment and a thirst for power, Stryker became a formidable crime boss.
Diamondback is a master martial artist and hand-to-hand combatant. He's renowned for his specialized trick knives, often coated with poison or containing hidden projectiles. His skill and arsenal make him a dangerous adversary, and he has repeatedly clashed with Luke Cage throughout his criminal career.
